John McAfee Reportedly Captured After Fleeing Murder Charges

John McAfee Reportedly Captured After Fleeing Murder Charges

Keenan Higgins Posted December 3, 2012

Things aren't looking too good for anti-virus-mogul-turned-fugitive John McAfee.

According to Yahoo! News, a posting on McAfee's blog has claimed the anti-virus software pioneer has been found after weeks in hiding.

The website whoismcafee.com—set up by Mr McAfee after he went on the run—said there was an unconfirmed report that he was apprehended on the Belize-Mexico border.

Here's what the original post says:

"We have received an unconfirmed report that John McAfee has been captured at the border of Belize and Mexico. More information as it is received."

However, in typical blogger fashion, a person claiming to be close to McAfee posted a message saying there was no confirmation that he had been found.

Some of Mcafee's entries on the blog—set up with the sole purpose to refute claims made about him by the media and the Belize authorities—describe instances of having to disguise himself as a beggar, a street trader and a drunken German tourist in order to watch police as they searched his Belize home, where he's been living since 2008.

On November 11th, Gregory Faull, a 52-year-old retired American builder, was found dead in a pool of blood at his home. He had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head.

Reports claim that police are only looking for McAfee to question him over the murder of Faull. However, McAfee says he went into hiding only because the Belize authorities have a vendetta against him, and believes he was the intended victim of the shooting, not Mr Faull.
