On the same stage that saw Roger Waters of Pink Floyd and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam rocking in harmony, along with Chris Martin of Coldplay and R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe in an acoustic collabo, only one image stayed emblazoned in audiences' minds the morning after: Kanye West's signature skirt.
Though 'Ye traveled across the globe with Jay-Z for their 2011-2012 "Watch The Throne" tour in a variety of kilts, it seemed like the billions who witnessed the 12-12-12 Sandy Relief concert at Madison Square Garden Wednesday were speechless at the sight of his wardrobe selection. The Chicago MC rocked out a 15-minute set in a Givenchy sweatshirt, and a leather skirt/leggings (aka meggings) combo that left every pore of skin above his neck covered in a nice sheen.
Twitter users flooded timelines with posts poking fun at his satire, even pointing fingers to his girlfriend/ reality star Kim Kardashian for his style cues. Even celebrities had something to say about the rapper's flappy threads.
"Kanye West try to wear a skirt like he Roddy Piper [a kilt-wearing wrestler] but he not the legend yet," former pro-wrestler the Iron Shiek tweeted.
Dipset spitter Cam'Ron had some e-shots to throw at Yeezy, too. "Pyrex and a skirt?," he wrote on Twitter. "Shit ain't adding up And if u co-sign this I'm blocking u!! Straight up. Ima have to save us" Yikes.
While hip-hop enthusiasts have been desensitized to 'Ye's feminine outfits, there seemed to be no relief for the G.O.O.D. Music leader and his style at the benefit concert the entire night.
