Hacker Sentenced to 10 Years In Prison

Deemed “Operation Hackerazzi” by authorities, Christopher Chaney was sentenced to 10 years in prison for breaching the security of online accounts of female celebrities.

Chaney hacked into the accounts of Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis, Renee Olstead and Christina Aguilera, releasing naked pictures to those they weren’t meant for.

“I have been truly humiliated and embarrassed. I find Christopher Chaney’s actions to be perverted and reprehensible,” said Johansson. Her nude images were leaked online by the 35-year-old, who not only victimizes female celebrities, but also former co-workers, sending one woman’s nudes to her father. Although Chaney denied in court that he sent those photos of women he knew to their relatives, U.S. District Judge S. James Otero found Chaney guilty to “counts that included wiretapping and unauthorized access to a computer,” AP reports. The FBI seized his computer, but Chaney still proceeded to hack into personal files.

“I don’t know what else to say other than I’m sorry. I could be sentenced to never use a computer again and I wouldn’t care,” Chaney said, who will face three years of supervised probation upon his release and “will have to notify officials of his online accounts.”

After his arrest in October 2011, investigators unveiled Chaney’s hard drive hosting a number of private celebrity photos and documents composed of their personal information.
