Second Man Pushed to Death in Front of NYC Train

Second Man Pushed to Death in Front of NYC Train

Iyana Robertson Posted December 28, 2012

For the second time this month, a NYC subway rider was pushed onto the tracks and killed.

Thursday night (Dec. 27), a man was struck and killed by the number 7 train at the 40th St./Lowery St station at about 8 p.m. in Sunnyside, Queens. According to police, a woman had followed the man onto the platform, sat in a bench nearest to him, and waited for the oncoming train to thrust the man onto the tracks. He was crushed by the first two train cars and sustained injuries too severe to readily identify him.

The suspect, who was seen mumbling to herself before killing her victim, was described as a heavy-set Hispanic woman in her 20s. She was caught on a nearby surveillance video
wearing a blue, white and grey ski jacket with grey and red Nike sneakers. Police do not believe that the deceased knew his killer. She remains at large as the NYPD continues their search and investigation.

This subway killing is reminiscent of the death of 58-year-old Ki-Suk Han on Dec. 3. Following an argument with 30-year-old Naeem Davis, Han was pushed onto the tracks and struck an oncoming Q train at the 49th St/7th Ave station in Elmhurst, Queens, Davis was charged with second degree murder.

Last night, 7 train service was halted for police investigations, and the victim’s body was removed around 1 a.m. The subway line has since resumed normal operation.
