Police Find 300 Animals In Florida Couple's Home

This Florida couple took hoarding to a completely new level.

CBS 6 reports that police responding to a missing child call made a startling discovery when they found hundreds of animals living in a small home, surrounded by filth.

Florida police say Jennifer Kovacs, 26, and her boyfriend Jeffrey O’Neil, 28, were living with hundreds of rodents, rabbits, lizards, and snakes—all while raising their 16-month-old daughter in the house.

Police made the discovery after Kovacs & O'Neil told them their daughter had crawled out of her crib, opened the front door, and wandered off. It was later revealed that a relative had actually took the child & left a note, after stopped by & finding her crying with both parents asleep.

Investigators concluded that the couple was actually harboring so many animals with intent to breed and sell the animals without a license.

Kovacs’ mother, who lived with them, said, “I’ve been begging my daughter and her boyfriend—that it was getting out of control. Rats continually breed; Rabbits continually breed. I mean, you wouldn’t want to be in a cage for three days or four days with poop.”

The couple told police their daughter had crawled out of her crib, opened the front door, and wandered off. It turns out the girl wasn’t missing — a relative had stopped by to check on the girl, and found her crying with both parents asleep.

Both parents of the toddler were arrested now face child abuse and animal cruelty charges.
