10 Artists We'd Love To Hear On A Song With Eminem

10 Artists We'd Love To Hear On A Song With Eminem

Chris Yuscavage Posted October 10, 2012
At this point in his career, Eminem has worked with damn near everyone. At least, everyone who really matters. From Jay-Z and 50 Cent to Rihanna and Pink, he's dropped a handful of memorable verses on other artists' projects and asked them to come in and contribute a verse or a hook to some of his masterpieces. Yet, we can't help but think that there are still a few artists out there that we'd love to hear rap or sing on the same song as Eminem.

Some of those artists are newer ones who weren't around at the start of Em's career. Others are artists who simply never got onto a song with Eminem for one reason or another. But, all of them are due for a guest appearance on a track with Slim Shady (because, make no mistake about it, whether the song appears on your project or Em's project, it's still his song). So, with that in mind—and with Em gracing the latest issue of VIBE—we put together a list of the 10 Artists We'd Love To Hear On A Song With Eminem. We need to hear these before Em hangs it up for good.
The Artist: Rick Ross
Why We'd Love To Hear Him On A Song With Eminem: First of all, we know that these two had "beef" a couple years ago because Ross doesn't get along with Em's protege 50 Cent. But, it's 2012 and, well, quite frankly Ross is in a much different place in his career right now. So, we think getting these two on a track together would be a good look for both of them. It'd also give Em the chance to put on a comedy show. Remember how Em used to take jabs at Dr. Dre every time they jumped on a song together? Think that with fat jokes, "boss" jokes, and weird Eminem sound effects throughout the entire song. If nothing else, this song would be funny as hell if it ever got recorded.
The Artist: Mac Miller
Why We'd Love To Hear Him On A Song With Eminem: A few months ago, Mac tweeted out a photo of him and Em backstage at a show in Tokyo. So, at the very least, these two know one another on some level. And, after all the hard work Mac has done over the years, it'd be a nice payoff to hear him on a track with Em, a guy who he clearly idolizes to some degree.
The Artist: Big Sean
Why We'd Love To Hear Him On A Song With Eminem: This one might actually come true. We've heard some rumblings about it on the 'net recently. But, we really hope something comes of it, because Em has worked with a number of different Detroit artists over the years. From his own artists like Obie Trice to other Detroit artists like Trick Trick, he's always put on for his city. So, t's time for Big Sean to get his guest verse. Maybe Sean already has one up his sleeve for his sophomore album?
The Artist: Ludacris
Why We'd Love To Hear Him On A Song With Eminem: Like, how has this not happened already? Although he's been quiet in recent years, Luda is arguably one of the best MCs in the game. He's underrated to some degree and could rap circles around most of the other rappers that are out today. So, it'd be great to hear him and Em go back and forth and try and outdo one another. Very quietly, we actually think Luda is one of the few guys out there who could push Em and keep up with him on a song.
The Artist: Masta Ace
Why We'd Love To Hear Him On A Song With Eminem: This might not get a lot of commercial love. But, this is a hip-hop head's wet dream. For years now, we've heard about how much Em looks up to Masta Ace and his early records. Yet, they've never managed to get on a song together. In a recent interview, Ace acknowledged that, once upon a time, he tried to get Em on a song and that Em's management shut it down. As a result, he said he won't work with Em unless he specifically calls and requests a studio session. But, c'mon: Don't give up, Ace! This has to happen.
The Artist: Tech N9ne
Why We'd Love To Hear Him On A Song With Eminem: There's a pretty good chance that this will happen at some point. Tech N9ne reached out to Em while he was recording his last project and almost got a verse from him before issues with Em's schedule made it impossible. But, with Tech N9ne working on another album now, the idea is back on the table. Tech N9ne might not be at the top of the Billboard charts, but real hip-hop heads respect him for what he's done on the independent scene. And, getting an Eminem verse would be a huge feather in his cap.
The Artist: Adele
Why We'd Love To Hear Her On A Song With Eminem: You know this one is coming, right? On Em's last album, he called on Rihanna and Pink to contribute strong, pop-driven hooks that earned him a couple of successful singles. So, who can he call for his next album? How about the English singer who has literally owned the charts and the radio for the last two years or so? If a collaboration between the two ever happened, it'd likely go to the top of the Billboard charts on the first week—and, unlike some songs that do that, we think it'd probably be pretty damn good.
The Artist: Meek Mill
Why We'd Love To Hear Him On A Song With Eminem: Recently, Meek came out and said that he'd challenge any rapper on the planet to step to him in a rap battle. Well, Meek, say hello to Slim Shady! Still think you've got what it takes to maintain the undefeated streak you say you've got when it comes to rap battles? After hearing a song with you and Em, we'd love to be the judges of that.
The Artist: Lupe Fiasco
Why We'd Love To Hear Him On A Song With Eminem: In an interview with The New York Times back in 2010, Em was asked if rap is dying. He replied by saying that it was not, in fact, dying and that a bunch of dope artists were helping keeping it alive. One of the artists he mentioned was Lupe. A year before that, Lupe showed Em the ultimate respect by saying that he could outrap anyone—except Em. So, why haven't they collabed yet? It'd be a bit of a curveball. But, we think these two could create a song that would make a large impact.
The Artist: Frank Ocean
Why We'd Love To Hear Him On A Song With Eminem: Outside of the fact that we're sure that Frank and Em could come up with a hit song together, this pairing would obviously be something of a monumental moment in Em's career. He caught hell at the beginning of his career when he used lyrics that were perceived to be homophobic. So, a song featuring himself and the Odd Future crooner would speak volumes about how much progress Em has made as an artist throughout the course of his career. It'd be a hit before we even pressed play on it.
