10 Other Reasons Why Lil Wayne Might Be Putting Rap On Hold
With recent announcement s that Lil Wayne would be putting rap on the backburner to focus on skate culture and landing that perfect 900 on his Tony Hawk steez, you could almost hear the “WTF’s” around the world. Lil Wayne, one of the biggest rappers in the game right now, would be sightly off his rocker to take a break during the most pivotal moment in hip-hop—the rise of the new generation. Isn’t he worried that a new hip-hop prince will snatch his crown while he’s too busy having fun on the ramp?
When you think about it, maybe this decision goes deeper than skateparks and kickflips. We threw together a list of 10 other reasons why Lil Wayne might be putting rap on hold. Check out our list, and see if you agree with these theories.

CONTINUE ON INTO THE GALLERY FOR 10 OTHER REASONS LIL WAYNE MIGHT BE PUTTING RAP ON HOLD:
1. He’s Starting Up His Acting Career
Wayne has only a few small roles under his belt (2010’s Hurricane Season for example), so maybe he wants to establish that side of his career to a greater degree. To be a good actor, you have to dedicate extensive time to get into character. Balancing a rap career while also shopping around scripts may be too much to handle for Weezy.

2. He Wants To Focus More On Designing TRUKFit
TRUKFit is pretty fresh as far as clothing lines go. If Wayne doesn’t give it the proper attention and care that it deserves, we may have another Pastelle or CEO on our hands (Yo, Kanye West & Dame Dash, we’re staring in your direction!). Weezy’s rap career would most likely be a major distraction, and he probably understands the importance of that.
3. Affion Crockett’s “WTF” Video
As slanderous as it is hilarious, Affion Crockett played the crap out of Lil Wayne with his “WTF” music video. While he also imitated Jay-Z (dead-on, if we should say so), Weezy was the center of the bashing, from his style to his shiny grill. That would be enough for us to say “Fuck this rap shit!” But really, how can Weezy retaliate to that?!

4. He Doesn’t Want Competition Against His Team [i.e. Drake, Nicki, YMCMB]
Lil Wayne has put people onto the game that have gone on to sell millions of records and garner tons of endorsements and fame. In other words, Wayne birthed the career of these dudes—and chicks! He knows that if it came down to it, he’ll always come out on top. Maybe taking himself out of the equation will make the record sales of people in his squad, like Drake & Nicki, skyrocket even higher than they already do.
5. He Wants More “Daddy Time” With His Kids
This guy has 4 kids—with four different baby mommas he has to deal with. Maybe what he needs is a solid year or two to really see his children the way he wants to. Given that they’re all not under the same roof, he’ll need ample amount of time to set aside so he can spend quality time with each of them. If this is true, you can’t blame the dude at all.
6. To Become The Next Skip Bayless As A Sports Analyst
Weezy’s a sports fanatic if you didn’t already know. He’s sat on panel with ESPN’s 1st And 10 alongside opinionated sports journalist Skip Bayless himself. Since this is a pretty passionate area in his life, maybe Wayne wants to dedicate his full attention to analyzing sports culture. He’s definitely got the knowledge for it.

7. He Wants To Reinvent Himself As A Singer
Ok, maybe this is a little far-fetched, but if Snoop Dogg can “reincarnate” himself as Snoop Lion, why can’t Weezy take his “How To Love” vocals a few steps further? Granted, he needs actual harmony to pull this feat off, but great vocals aren’t actually everything to be successful as a singer in today’s game. We won’t drop any names, but you guys get the idea.

8. He’s Feeling The Pressure To Sell A Milli In A Week Again
Not only did Wayne sell over a million copies of Tha Carter III in its first week, he did it again by selling 964k of Tha Carter IV in its first week. Those are some big feats to live up to, and maybe Weezy is feeling the pressure. They always say to get out while you’re on top. Lil Wayne might be considering that option right about now.
9. He’s Taking Time Off To Recruit New Artists To YMCMB
Like we stated before, Wayne has the Midas touch when it comes to discovering new artists. He made Drake into hip-hop’s hottest act and took Nicki Minaj from rapping on a stoop in Queens to garnering almost 14 million fans on Twitter. Is he out there right now, career on hold, looking for that next big thing? YMCMB could use a legit R&B/Pop princess, or a alternative rock band.
10. He’s Reached His Rap Pinnacle
Millions of records sold. Grammy wins. Platinum plaques since he was 17 years old. Love him or hate him, the dude has pretty much accomplished every goal all rappers set out to achieve. Wayne probably realizes this and knows that it’s time to move on from the game. What else is there for him to do when he’s practically done it all? Whether or not he really puts rapping on the backburner, he’ll go down in history as one of the best to ever do it.
