Early Monday morning, music fans went nuts at the possibility of another posthumous Aaliyah album.
Given the sales of Aaliyah’s first posthumous release I Care 4 U in 2002 (it topped the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B Charts & landed at #3 on The Billboard 200), it’s clear that there’s still a market for the eternal Queen of Urban Pop.
Could we see the revival of Aaliyah’s legacy in 2012? That’s yet to be confirmed, specifically by her label Blackground Records. But until it is, we here at VIBE started thinking of who could bring Baby Girl’s unheard catalog of music to life while also matching it up with the sound of the new generation.
