Pusha T spent so much time working on his solo debut, My Name Is My Name, over the past three years that the whole “going solo” aspect of the album is pretty much an afterthought at this point. Even though MNIMN is technically his solo “debut,” he’s put out three mixtapes—Fear of God, Fear of God II: Let Us Pray, and Wrath of Caine—released a handful of freestyles and appeared on the G.O.O.D. Music Cruel Summer compilation since signing to G.O.O.D. in 2010. So hearing him go at it alone on MNIMN without his brother No Malice isn’t really anything new at this point.

Nonetheless, MNIMN provides definitive proof that Pusha has what it takes to make it as a solo artist after spending years as part of the hip-hop duo Clipse. And he’s not alone in that department, either. Over time, a few members of prominent hip-hop duos have broken out and enjoyed successful solo careers on their own. Check out 10 other rappers who’ve gone dolo after being part of a hip-hop duo.
