10 Reasons You Need To Attend An Event At The Barclays Center
Last night, the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn officially opened it's doors—with Jay-Z putting on a larger-than-life performance as the arena's first act.
From the "all black everything" decor, to the jaw-dropping size of the arena—which comfortably seats 19,000 heads—there's almost too many things to love about BK's modern day Atlantic Avenue monument.
VIBE was there to experience it all, so we can tell you better than anyone why you must make your way to Barclays. Believe us, you have every reason to go, whether you're catching Rihanna's Diamonds Tour next May or to see the Brooklyn Nets work toward the NBA Finals.

Check out VIBE's 10 reasons you need to head to Barclays in the following gallery:
The Barclays Arena
This place is huge! With 18,000-seats for basketball games, and 19,000 for music and other entertainment events, Barclays rivals the iconic Madison Square Garden when it comes to size. You shouldn't have a problem finding a spot to fit in.
The V.I.P Amenities
Barclays sure knows how to treat their Big Spenders. While we only got to experience the "good life" for one night, here's what you could be getting if you decide to become a frequent visitor:
—Membership to Barclays Center Business Alliance
—Access to the private clubs and restaurants
—Access to the premium suite level concourse
—Invitations to suite holder events
—Use of the suite on non-event days
—VIP parking
The Brooklyn Nets
With a fresh new arena, the biggest name in hip-hop co-signing them, and an entire borough looking at them to properly represent, The Nets have a lot riding on their shoulders. That's the perfect reason to go check them out when they play their first preseason home game against the Washington Wizards on October 15th.

The Upcoming Concerts/Events
Barclays is set to become the go-to venue for artists & entertainers looking for a fresh alternative to MSG, that has just as much mass appeal. It doesn't stop at concerts either. Expect comedy shows like Russell Peter's Notorious World Tour in November and Disney On Ice presenting Rockin’ Ever After at the top of next year. Some of the concerts already scheduled include Justin Bieber (November 2012), Lady Gaga (March 2013), and ROC Nation's star-player Rihanna (May 2013).

The New 40/40 Club In Brooklyn
Yes people, the 40/40 Club has made its was to Brooklyn. Being that Hov calls BK home, it's only fitting that he chose Barclays as the newest establishment in the bar/lounge franchise. Whether you're looking for a cool drink or some tasty wings, definitely try & stop by—during opening hours, of course.

The Official Nets Shop
This is where you can get your official Nets gear, sponsored by the good people at Adidas. We got a chance to do a little shopping, and we can confirm that they have a lot to offer for basketball fans or the casual Brookynite. The shop is open 7 days a week from 10am - 6pm, so feel free to spend a little cash—or a lot.
The Accessibility
Nearly every major subway line goes to Barclays, from the 2 and the Q to the 5 and LIRR (which stops at the Atlantic Terminal across the street from the arena). It gets really packed around there—especially when Jay-Z is in town—so we recommend using public transportation for sure.
Jay-Z's Eight-Night Opening Shows
Do we really need to convince you why you must see Jay-Z at Barclays? If you have any opportunity to get tickets to this sold-out show, don't think twice about swiping your credit card. Don't worry too much though if you can't. We're pretty sure this won't be Hov's last time at Barclays.
The Barclays Experience
Simply put, Barclays is an experience. The energy you feel from stepping in the place is a great feeling. The staff is top-notch, the service is Grade-A, and honestly, we wouldn't mind just hanging out in their squeaky clean bathrooms! Another great thing is, even the 'nose-bleed' seats looked like they were getting their money's worth.
You're Guaranteed To Be A Part Of History
Think of it like this: When stepping into the new Barclays Center, you're basically witnessing the beginning of something that'll be standing 100 years from now. In 2033, when a 21-year-old Blue Ivy Carter is introducing her legendary pops on stage, you'll understand what we mean.
