Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The studios’ desire to scavenge every last possible dollar from the past continues when an updated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles debuts August 8. There are a few huge risks involved with this project. Namely, part of the reason the first batch of Turtle movies were hits in the early 90s were because they were released during the height of the popularity of the toys.
There was a hit television show, everyone was playing with the turtle action figures, and the time was perfect for a big screen adaptation. Now? Ehh… not so much. There was a big screen animated adaptation that came and went in 1997, and since then most people haven’t thought too much about giant turtle movies.
Michael Bay is producing so at the very least we’ll be getting a big dumb action movie with a lot of corny one-liners. Maybe we should just be grateful for that.
