The 10 Most Scandalous Politicians In Recent History

/ November 26, 2013

According to Wikipedia, a politician is defined as “a person who is involved in influencing public policy and decision making.” And while we certainly wouldn’t advocate trusting everything that Wikipedia says, we think that’s a pretty good definition of what a politician is. A politician is someone who helps make decisions for a larger group of people—whether it be a city, state, or country—and tries to do what’s in their best interest.

So with that in mind, why do so many politicians make so many bad decisions? We’re not talking about decisions made on political issues, either. We’re talking about politicians like Toronto mayor Rob Ford who make terrible decisions in their personal lives and end up sparking scandals that affect their political careers. Ford recently admitted to smoking crack cocaine and was also involved in an oral sex scandal involving one of his former staffers. Crazy stuff, to say the least.

Ford is hardly the first politician to make a bad decision in recent times, though. There have been many just like him. So in an effort to make him look slightly better—or, at the very least, to show that he’s not the only politician with really questionable character—we put together a list of the 10 most scandalous politicians in recent history. All of these guys could’ve used an Olivia Pope.
