Sigh. What is there to say that hasn’t already been said? Rap nerds will wistfully recall staying up all night on Christmas Eve, 2007, when Jay Elec-yarmulke promised to drop Act II, the follow-up to his critically acclaimed Act Iover Jon Brion’s Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind soundtrack. Six years later, and here we are trying to enjoy Jay’s work with The Bullitts (he’s got at least three verses on They Die By Dawn and Other Stories…) while struggling with his scant output. Jay deserves to enjoy laying up with a Rothschild, and perhaps the historic buzz heaped upon him was unfairly demanding, but few seem to believe that he’s ever gonna drop Act II. But don’t get it twisted – every detracting naysayer will come running back when the album comes out.
