13. The sampled "Bound" (the 13-second snippet on his web site) and the song that drifts into C-Murder's "Down For My Niggas" (Beyonce seemed to get the most turnt to that one) were the most Kanye-ian tracks… and they're great. Those are probably the songs hip-hop heads will hit replay on.
14. Overall, this is an album with an agenda. Corporations must pay is what they're saying. But the darkness that was My Dark Beautiful Twisted Fantasy still showcased bright and digestible ideas from Mr. West that wasn't taxing on the ear. Yeezus, on first listen, was hard to digest. It's just different, I guess.
15. Rap has been feeling dark and religious lately--Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Kanye. Interesting how each of those artists approaches those themes. I think Kanye's music gives off the feeling of being in a cult. J. Cole is a little more literal with the religious theme. Also ironic that Cole's been tight-lipped about his project, while Kanye, who's normally private, is making this music "open to the public" and keeps saying it's "not for sale."
