Newcleus – "Computer Age (Push The Button)"
The name of the song should clue you in to what these guys were going for. Released in 1984, the song has a spoken word monologue that speaks of the group’s “discovery of a place where they could be free to be themselves.” Video games are often an alternate reality for people, and here Newcleus adapts to the changing music scene by providing alien transmissions and squirts of electronic rain alongside urges to “push the button." It would fit right in with a fighting game, a racing game, or a killing extraterrestrials game.
