Viktor Vaughn – "Back End"
You knew MF had to show up. The guy raps with a mask on and named himself after a comic book villain, plus his Dangerdoom album with Dangermouse was inspired by Toonami, so he’s got to love video games. One of many alter egos, Viktor Vaughn dropped a maligned second solo project Venemous Villain that packs a punch but was overshadowed by the brilliant first album. It’s weird from the get-go, proven by the creepy sprinkle of synth that sets off the first half of “Back End." The digital drizzle is hypnotic and all the more alluring because it sounds like the kind of frenzied (albeit annoying) sound effects you hear in Pac-Man.
