Yes, that Lil B. Pick any popular rapper right now. I bet $100 he respects Lil’ B, if not publicly in the press, then in the studio when they’re biting his style. Depending on who you talk to, Lil’ B might not be slept on at all. Rappers like A$AP Rocky, Trinidad James, Earl Sweatshirt and Mac Miller all either show flashes of Based God’s influence or admit admiration for him. People have mixed feelings about his talents and whether or not he should even be taken seriously, but most of the detractors latch onto his ratchet, adlib-filled songs. Back when he was in the Bay Area rap group The Pack, “Vans” was something of a phenomenon. Now Lil’ B is the most compelling rapper out, polarizing fans and causing conversation instead of just putting people to sleep. If only some of the people that shit on him would listen to his first two albums, “I’m Thraxx” and “6 Kiss.” But that’s probably too much to ask.
