14. DJ Mustard had a breakout year.
When you heard Tyga’s “Rack City” in 2011, you might have thought it was a fluke. A one-hit wonder. A flash in the pan. But DJ Mustard had other plans. The West Coast beat master doubled back on people last year with the 2 Chainz smash hit “I’m Different,” and in 2013 he’s continued to apply pressure.
Hit any club in America and you’ll hear “Mussadonabeat, ho” drop right before bodies rush the dance floor. He blessed YG with the slapping “My Nigga,” he gave Ty$ the hottest R&B record out right now with “Paranoid,” and he killed the club with Jeezy’s “R.I.P.” Mustard doesn’t plan on stopping either – he just signed as an artist to Roc Nation and he’s continued working with Problem, TeeFlii and Young Dro. Expect a lot more bangers and some sonic diversity, too, from the 23-year old production wiz.
