As musical debuts go, Snoop Doggy Dogg’s Doggystyle (1993) is pitch perfect. Arguably the most anticipated freshman statement in hip-hop history (it sold a remarkable 802,858 copies its first week alone when that actually meant something), the landmark West Coast set overseen by the brilliant production of Dr. Dre is gangsta rap nirvana. With the mighty Death Row clique backing up an in-the-zone Snoop, Doggystyle could double for a greatest hits package. Seriously, it’s that freaking great. Which is why the task of ranking the tracks from this influential work was so taxing. Leaving out the majority of its iconic intros, VIBE breaks down Doggystyle from best to worst (as it that’s even possible!). Turn this one up to 11.—Keith Murphy (@murphdogg29)
