3 Reasons Why Chris Brown Should Not Perform With Rihanna At The 2013 Grammy Awards

VIBE Posted January 10, 2013
Have you heard the latest rumor swirling around Rihanna and Chris Brown? Apparently, they're thinking about linking up for a performance at the 2013 Grammy Awards next month. Nothing has been confirmed yet—and, if the performance does go down, it's likely that we won't find out about it until the last minute—but sources in Breezy's camp have come out and said that there's a real possibility of the embattled couple putting on a show at the Grammys.

"Chris wants to perform with Rihanna at the Grammys to show the whole world they are back together," the source told Radar Online recently. "Chris doesn't care what the haters say and wants to give the viewers an over-the-top performance with Rihanna."

It seems like the joint performance is a real possibility now that Rih-Rih has been booked as one of the performers at the 55th Grammy Awards show. But, is a Chrianna performance what you really want to see this year? We'd argue that you don't. In fact, we'd argue that Chris Brown should back off of his reported idea and let Rihanna handle the show solo. Why? Well, check out our list of the 3 Reasons Why Chris Brown Should Not Perform With Rihanna At The 2013 Grammy Awards. Do you agree with our reasons?
Reason #1: Rihanna deserves to have her own moment at the 2013 Grammy Awards.

Did the Grammy organizers select Chris Brown to perform at the Grammys? No, they didn't. They selected Rihanna—and rightfully so. Once again, Rihanna had a huge year as far as music goes in 2012. So, she should get the opportunity to celebrate that year by having everyone in the music industry watch her perform. She shouldn't have to share the spotlight with Chris Brown and have everyone talking about things other than her music career. For once, she should be able to make headlines simply for her contributions to music and not for what she does in her personal life.
Reason #2: If Chris Brown and Rihanna perform together at the 2013 Grammy Awards, we'll all be forced to talk about what happened the last time they made news at the Grammys.

If Chris Brown wants to let the world know that he and Rihanna are officially an item again, that's fine. But, if he does it at the Grammys, every single news outlet that covers the reunion will be forced to talk about what happened between the couple at the 2009 Grammy Awards. And, once again, we'll all be forced to talk about why their reunion isn't a good thing. That seems like the wrong foot to get off on if you're Chris Brown and Rihanna and you want people to take your rekindled love seriously.
Reason #3: They don't have a song together that warrants a Grammy performance.

If Chris Brown and Rihanna do a duet at the Grammys, what song are they going to do? "Cake"? Ugh. "Nobody's Business"? UGH. Sorry, guys. But, you don't really have a collaboration that deserves to be performed on the Grammys stage this year. So, how about saving the shared performance for next year? That'll give you plenty of time to come up with something epic to perform. And, it'll give all of us the chance to come to terms with the fact that Chrianna is back together again. Assuming, of course, Chrianna really is back together again.
