Marvin Gaye - "Here, My Dear"
What Happened: We're taking it waaayyy back, but consider this a template for future R&B stars. Marvin Gaye brought the blues to this 1978 diss track about his ex-wife Anna. He went into the studio and recorded the bitter lyrics about having to pay child support and alimony for their then-12-year-old son Marvin, III.
Most Revealing Lyrics: "You don't have the right to use the son of mine/to keep me in line/One thing I can't do without/is the boy whom God gave to both of us/I'm so happy, oh, for the son of mine."
