5. The twist at the end of “Truth Hurts”
Instead of sailing the Captain Obvious route -- woman cheats on man; man gets mad -- Usher and JD roll out a scenario where man (Usher) accuses woman of infidelity, only to admit later that he’s the cheating culprit. The plot serves its purpose: showing a man plagued by guilt and insecurity. “The truth is, I got this secret/I been keeping from you, baby/’Cause I know that you gonna tear up the place, punch me in the face, pour the hot grits out/I been blaming you when I’m the one that’s doing wrong.” Amen?
