The 5 Grimiest Shots Aimed At Hip-Hop Baby Mommas

The 5 Grimiest Shots Aimed At Hip-Hop Baby Mommas

William E. Ketchum III Posted January 7, 2013
After months of letting 2012’s most memorable rap line stew through quotables and Internet memes, Kobe Bryant’s wife Vanessa Bryant finally spoke out about Drake’s reaction to her chances of winning $150 million after a pending divorce. “Bitch you wasn’t with me shooting in the gym,” he quipped on Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin’.” The Black Mamba’s high school sweetheart fired back on her Instagram account this week. “I love when immature kids quote a rapper that has never been friends with Kobe and knows nothing about our relationship,” she typed. “Just shows how gullible they are.”

Drizzy later apologized for the lyric, but the line was child’s play in hip-hop. Rappers have said and done much more disrespectful things when it comes to a rival emcee’s baby’s mother.

Read on for our list.

50 Cent vs. Rick Ross, Tia and Brooke

During his assault to destroy Rick Ross’ reputation, 50 Cent released scathing videos about two of Ross’ childrens’ mothers. First, she interviewed “Tia,” who verified that Ross was a correctional officer and accused him of being deadbeat dad. He then hilariously took her and her friend shopping for fur coats and jewelry, as Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” played. Then, he released a porno tape of Brooke, Ross’ other baby’s mother, while narrating the video as Pimpin’ Curly, a comical character he created for a web series. The onslaught continued with actual diss songs like “Tia Told Me.” Miraculously, Ross proved that he was indeed the Teflon Don: he stuck to his guns and remained undaunted, becoming the biggest name in rap.

DMX vs. Kurupt and Foxy Brown

After Kurupt found out about an alleged affair between DMX and his fiancé Foxy Brown, he used “Calling Out Names” to vent his frustrations. “Only X I know is Xzibit or RBX. Extraordinary, trying to snatch my bitch?” he raps. “You can have the bitch, two bitches getting rich.” X first responded on his second album with the song “Bring Your Whole Crew.”

But rumor has it that his memorable line in his hit single “Party Up” was also directed at his California rival. “You wack, you twisted, your girl’s a hoe. You broke, kid ain’t yours, and everybody know,” he raps.

Max B vs. Jim Jones and Chrissy Lampkin

Before Jim Jones’ wifey Chrissy Lampkin was cashing reality TV checks from “Love & Hip-Hop,” she was the subject of a series of diss songs and interviews by Jones’ former Byrdgang compatriot Max B. The most memorable was the humorously titled “She touched it in Miami.” In the song, he rhymes over Alchemist’s “The Essence,” said that Lampkin offers him sexual favors while Jones was in love with her.

Jay-Z vs. Nas and Carmen Bryan

When Jay-Z first took shots at Nas on “Takeover,” he coyly alluded to sleeping with Carmen Bryan, the mother of Nas’ daughter Destiny. “You know who, did you know what with you know who, let’s keep that between me and you,” he muttered. But after Nas dropped the atomic bomb that was “Ether,” Hov showed out while he was against the ropes. He released “Super Ugly,” a track that dragged Bryan’s name through the mud, accusing her of sleeping with Jay and all-star baller Allen Iverson. “I came in your Bentley back seat, skeeted in your Jeep, left condoms on your baby seat,” Jay snapped.

After Jay-Z’s mother heard the song, she made her son publicly apologize for the lyrics.

2Pac vs. The Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans

At the beginning of perhaps the most scathing diss track of all time, 2Pac got straight to the point while addressing The Notorious B.I.G., who he thought had set him up to get shot. “That’s why I fucked your bitch, you fat motherfucker,” he scowled before the instrumental set in. He continued to circulate rumors of a sexual relationship with Biggie’s wife Faith Evans, blatantly. “You claim to be a player, but I fucked your wife,” he exclaimed. No wit, just shots.
