Reason #1: Pusha T managed to include lots and lots of guest appearances on My Name Is My Name—without making it feel like it.
If you judge MNIMN's guest appearances solely on the tracklisting, you're going to be disappointed. Chris Brown? The-Dream? Kelly Rowland? At first glance, it appears as though Pusha created a bunch of tracks aimed at getting radio play. But once you sit down and listen to the album, it's clear that everyone on it was included for a reason. For instance, Pusha didn't allow Chris Brown to steal the spotlight on "Sweet Serenade." Rather, he called on him to compliment his verses on the hook.
Same goes for the others mentioned above. And even when he calls on fellow rappers like Rick Ross, 2 Chainz and Big Sean, it feels like he did so for a purpose. So while there are plenty of guest appearances on the album, you shouldn't be scared off by them. They're all a part of the larger picture and we suspect that it took Pusha awhile to find the right cast of characters to include on the album.
