5 Reasons To See 'The Liberation Tour'
The Liberation Tour is where slow jams come to live again. With three of today's biggest acts in music distributing the weight including Melanie Fiona, D'Angelo and headliner Mary J. Blige, any R&B enthusiast will find themselves catching the Holy Ghost more than once throughout the three-hour affair.
As MJB and crew touched down at the PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey Thursday night (Aug. 23), the sounds from the open-air stadium could be heard miles away as each vocalist rocked the stage accompanied by a live band. In case you felt soul was a thing of the musical past, here's five reasons why checking out the Liberation Tour will convince you otherwise.

Not only is this newly blonde bombshell easy on the eyes, songbird Melanie Fiona showcases pipes that auto-tuned artists can only dream of. Belting out such heartbreak anthems like "It Kills Me" and "4AM" to bass-thumping hip hop numbers like "This Time," the T-dot R&Bista sends shivers down spines effortlessly.
Besides the fact that D'Angelo's resurrection revived a dying breed of R&B, Mr. Brown Sugar proves he still got it in the flesh. Whether crooning fan favorites like "Untitled (How Does It Feel)," and "Cruisin," his lyrical voodoo can still swoon the ladies.
If you're an R&B baby born and bred in the '80s to early '90s, be prepared for a throwback rollercoaster of old school grooves that won't keep you in your seat. The best part? All patrons in attendance will be jammin' right along next to you! From "I'm Goin Down" to "Not Gon' Cry" to "Real Love," MJB stans will make the venue vibrate and rise to the occasion as soon as Mary holds out the mic.
Even as a veteran songstress, Mary J has no problem adapting to the times with her own modern-day swagger. Singing hits off her recent album, "My Life II... The Journey Continues (Act I)," she delivers her newer set of hits with stiletto'd two-steps and shimmies. No need for assists though. She'll hold down the verses and hooks of such singles like "Mr. Wrong" and "Love A Woman" dolo, even spitting a little something on "Midnight Drive."
The emotion that Mary J Blige delivers in her live performances gets real. Whether bending down on her knees for "No More Drama" or nailing the high-note runs of "Be Without You," you will feel every note with hands to the air, chest-pumps and all. Once she hits you with the up-beat, reflection-checking "Just Fine" as her closer, the entire soundtrack of your life has been fully satisfied.
