5 Songs From 'Dreamchasers 2' Meek Mill Should Have Saved For His Album
Last August, Meek Mill dropped the DJ Drama-helmed mixtape, Dreamchasers, on us and it was, in a word, a smash. Not only did it include solid tracks like "Tony Story" and "Derrick Rose." But, it also included "I'ma Boss," featuring Rick Ross, and "House Party," featuring Young Chris, which both spent the better part of 2011 getting spin after spin after spin on the radio. So, when Meek announced that he was dropping a sequel to his Dreamchasers mixtape earlier this year, we were understandably excited to see what else the Maybach Music Group rapper had in store for us. And, it sounds like we weren't alone in our excitement.
Since being released on Monday afternoon through Datpiff, Dreamchasers 2 has been downloaded more than two million times. It even managed to crash the Datpiff servers for awhile when it initially dropped. As a result, it's clear that folks are ready to hear the Philly MC's MMG debut, Dreams & Nightmares.
It's also pretty clear that Meek's ready to drop it. After listening to Dreamchasers 2 several times, it became very clear to us that some of the tracks on the mixtape are good enough to appear on an album. Unlike some of the stuff that artists usually put on their mixtapes, Meek has provided a handful of songs that would sound right at home on his debut. To show you what we mean, we selected 5 Songs From Dreamchasers 2 That Meek Mill Should Have Saved For His Debut Album. Then again, with MMG's track record—the Rick Ross hits, "B.M.F. (Blowin' Money Fast)" and "MC Hammer," both landed on mixtapes before appearing on his last album, Teflon Don—maybe a couple of these will find their way onto Dreams & Nightmares after all. Why It Should Appear On Meek's Debut: Word has it that this song is probably going to land on the MMG compilation, Self Made, Vol. 2. And, that would definitely make sense. Meek's already got a video out for it, so it's clear he had big plans for the song. But, if you're unfamiliar with Meek, this is the kind of song that would serve as a great introduction for him. Possibly even as the actual intro on his debut.

Why It Should Appear On Meek's Debut: Even though we're glad Meek Mill has started working with other producers, he still sounds best to us over a Jahlil Beats production. This is a great example of why their relationship works. Jahlil Beats is known for creating frantic, uptempo beats and Meek is one of the few artists who can keep up with them. Big Sean also keeps up well on this track as the two artists exchange bars and create a track that should get some burn this summer.

Example: "My new young chick look exactly like Rihanna/Ass like Nicki, but she yellow like Madonna/I take her to the mall and buy her all type of designers/YSL, fly Chanel, all that Dolce & Gabbana."

Not Meek Mill. This song isn't exactly single material. But Meek and Drake do take us to church with this organ-laced cut that features both of them dropping solid verses. We'd be somewhat shocked if this didn't land on Dreams & Nightmares as at least a bonus cut (again, the Drake feature alone makes it a must). But, then again, it sounds like Meek has plenty of heat to spare right now. So, don't be surprised if it doesn't.
