Channel Orange was released in July 2012, which feels like eons ago in the digital age. In a time where we know about a celeb's every move thanks to Instagram, Twitter and paparazzi, Frank Ocean is barely a blip on the radar. He dropped his debut on us and virtually left us in the dark. Fans and critics are itching for a follow-up.
Nabil Elderkin, Ocean's trusty visual accomplice, gave us hope that album numero dos is in the foreseeable future. He shared an Instagram photo of our elusive singer hunched over in a studio, with the caption: “Frank in the lab.. Making sophomore album game.” Before his 2013 You're Not Dead... tour got cut short due to a torn vocal chord, he released three new songs, but there's no telling if they were album cuts or just loosies to remind us that, well, he's still breathing.
Creatively, many are anxious to see where Frank's head is after such a lengthy sabbatical. He's got a lot of ground to cover. Aside from filling us in on the massive time gap (how were your travels to Shanghai, Frank?), these are 5 things we'd like to see on the new album that will assure it was well worth the wait. –Stacy-Ann Ellis
