5 Things We Learned From Drake's "Started From the Bottom"
Drake’s new song, “Started From The Bottom,” has everyone talking. The moody, aggressive track is different from what we’ve been hearing from the radio killa.
Could this be the direction of Drake’s new album or is he just throwing mad subliminals (and if so, at whom)? We’ve deconstructe d the song and here’s what we’ve learned so far.

Drake Is Kinda Mad
Boy, is Drake mad or what? From the hook to the verses, the rapper’s flow is far more aggressive and in-your-face than we’ve seen him since, well, “Headlines.”
“I could turn your boy into the man/There ain't really much I hear that's poppin' off without us, nigga,” he spits. Put a muzzle on this puppy because he’s out for blood. Who are the shots aimed at? Perhaps fellow Toronto rappers or maybe a response to Drake’s so-called beef with Pusha T? Not even Rap Genius knows for sure.

Drake is Rich
Drake is letting all his accounting hang out on this one. If we’re to believe the lyrics, the rapper is pulling in ‘half a million for a show.” His 2012 Club Paradise show had about 30 dates, which means Drizzy pulled in a cool $15 million! No wonder he’s wearing “every single chain” even when he’s in the house. Swag.

Who is Mike Zombie?
Drake has his pick of producers but chose to go with newcomer Mike Zombie to helm “Started From The Bottom.” Who the heck is this guy? A virtual unknown, Zombie seems to be besties with Drake. He reps Drake’s October’s Very Own (OVO) clique and calls himself the “Prince Of The Boro” per Twitter. The first person he followed on Twitter also just so happens to be Drake. Hmmm….

No New Friends
“No new niggas, nigga we don’t feel that/Fuck a fake friend, where you real friends at?” Drake raps over and over in the bridge. He’s been dropping the “No New Friends” hashtag, not to mention promo t-shirts, for a minute now. Unless you’re OVO official already (See Mike Zombie), don’t bother sending Drake a friendship Valentine next week.

He Started from the Bottom…Really
The overarching theme of the song is that Drake has paid his dues. Just because he was a child star on a little teen show called "DeGrassi" does not mean that he hasn’t seen struggle. Trust us. Watch the show. There’s plenty of struggle on it.
