The 5 Weirdest Beefs Between Rappers and NBA Players
Most of the time, rappers and NBA players get along. They attend the same parties. They kick it at the same nightclubs. Hell, in some cases, they even date the same groupi...er, "girls." But, every so often, a rapper takes a shot at an NBA player—or vice versa—and starts a beef that, truth be told, never ends well. Most rappers can't play ball, and most ballers can't rap, so there's really no fair way to settle the score.
Well, there's usually no fair way to settle the score. For the last few years now, Lil B and Kevin Durant have taken shots at one another on Twitter. It started with KD calling Lil B's music wack. It escalated with Lil B responding to KD. And, most recently, it resulted in Lil B threatening to catch a plane to Oklahoma City to—get this—play Durant in a game of one-on-one. Pretty weird, right?
Sadly, though, the Lil B/Kevin Durant beef isn't the weirdest beef we've seen go down between rappers and ball players. Not even close, in fact. And, to prove it, we put together a list of The 5 Weirdest Beefs Between Rappers and NBA Players. We're still scratching our heads and wondering why in the world these beefs went down.

The Rapper: Joe Budden
The NBA Player: Glen "Big Baby" Davis
The Beef: When a YouTube video of Big Baby dancing hit the 'net in August 2010, Jumpoff made several jokes about it on his Twitter account. And, it wasn't long before the NBA power forward caught wind of it and took a few shots of his own. "Tell Joe burdens!!!" he tweeted, "I don't play with trash, I take it outside!!! Plus he's broke has [sic] hell!! I think his fans forgot about him!!" That resulted in a few more jabs from both sides and, well, this one had Twitter going nuts. Fortunately, though, the "beef" only lasted for a day before both guys moved on.

The Rapper: Skillz
The NBA Player: Shaquille O'Neal
The Beef: In 2004, Shaq recorded a song for a DJ Sickamore mixtape that featured the line, "I don't care how mad your skills is, you can't serve me." It also featured bars directed at an unnamed person from Virginia. VA rapper Skillz, who used to go by the name Mad Skillz, took it as a diss aimed at him and recorded his own retaliation track. He even called on some assistance from Detroit Pistons center Ben Wallace. At the end of the day, it was great promo for Skillz and it earned Shaq some more recognition from the rap community. But, we still aren't really sure whether these two guys ever had legitimate "beef."

The Rapper: Jay-Z
The NBA Player: DeShawn Stevenson
The Beef: During a Cleveland Cavaliers/Wa shington Wizards playoff series in 2008, D-Steve referred to LeBron James as "overrated." In response, King James said that him responding to Stevenson would be like "Jay-Z responding to Soulja Boy." So, naturally, Soulja Boy got involved by attending a game and siding with Stevenson. And then, Jay also threw his hat into the ring by recording a freestyle over Too Short's "Blow The Whistle" that featured some shots aimed at Stevenson. It was captivating and made the playoff series all the more entertaining . But, it was also a really, really weird moment in Jay-Z's career.

The NBA Player: James Harden
The Beef: During the 2012 NBA Playoffs, the Boss Hogg Outlaw noticed that the Oklahoma City Thunder guard appeared to be throwing up gang signs during the Thunder's series against the San Antonio Spurs. So, he took to his Twitter account and claimed that Harden wasn't really "about that life." He wasn't the only one who noticed it, either. Lil Duval also made some comments on Twitter, too.

The Rapper: Kanye West
The NBA Player: Kris Humphries
The Beef: You just knew this one was going to make the list, right? Believe it or not, these two have traded a number of jabs in 2012 thanks to their relationship s with Kim Kardashian. Earlier this summer, 'Ye dropped the song, "Cold," that featured the lines, "And, I'll admit, I fell in love with Kim/'Round the same time she had fell in love with him/Well, that's cool, baby girl, do ya thing/Lucky I ain't have Jay drop him from the team." Humphries didn't let him get away with it. In July, he signed a new contract with the Brooklyn Nets and took to his Twitter account to fire back. "I'm up at Brooklyn!" he tweeted. "@S_C_ "lucky I didn't have Jay drop me from the team" lol!" But, what's even weirder is that we get the feeling this beef hasn't run its course yet. Stay tuned.
