The Artist: Kendrick Lamar
Why He Should Book Studio Time With Rick Rubin: KL's 2012 debut, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, is undoubtedly one of the best hip-hop albums of the past five years. So when he gets back into the studio to record his sophomore album, there'll be pressure to duplicate its success. Getting a producer like Rubin to produce some cuts—or even executive-produce the whole project—would be a major coup. Plus, we think that RR's minimalist approach to producing would work really well with KL's tendency to let his lyrics tell his story.
