7 Artists Who Should Get A Las Vegas Residency

7 Artists Who Should Get A Las Vegas Residency

Camille Augustin Posted February 20, 2013
What better place for an artist to make a performance home than the entertainment capital of the world? With news of Adele possibly accepting a residency in Las Vegas, she'd join the likes of Elton John, Toni Braxton, and Cee-Lo Green to set up shop in the Nevada hot spot. What other singers could do a Sin City residency justice? Click through the photos for VIBE's picks. --Camille Augustin

Artist: Britney Spears
Show: It’s Britney Bitch
Venue: Circus Circus
Britney is shooting up the dance charts with “Scream & Shout,” and already getting courted by Ceasar's Entertainment so it’s only right that pop's comeback queen ascends to her throne (without missing a step) in the capital of second chances.

Artist: Rihanna
Show: Cloud 7
Venue: Mirage
Prepare for a ratchet night wilder than The Hangover as you take Rih’s high-life roller coaster for a ride. "Nobody's Business" would be the natural centerpiece in the city where "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" is the motto.

Artist: Miguel
Show: Boulevard Of Kaleidoscope Dreams
Venue: Luxor
Riding on a Grammy Awards high, Miguel is sitting on top of the world with his new gramophone. Although he’s currently on tour with Alicia Keys, a show of his own would, uh, thrust Miguel into the spotlight, already having a hold on the ladies during his sultry segments. The “Candles In The Sun” crooner can turn up the heat index, so towels (or panties!) would carpet the stage nightly.

Artist: Machine Gun Kelly
Show: Lace Up Las Vegas
Venue: Bally's
Ohio's most ratchet rapper MGK puts the "sin" in Cincinnati, so it's only right that he'd have a second home for raging in the country's debauchery capital. Visitors can shake their angst by blacking out to "Wild Boy" instead of taking out blackjack L's on the innocent table dealers.

Artist: Nicki Minaj
Show: Pink Strip, Vegas Reloaded
Venue: Caesar's Palace
Barbz would paint the town bubblegum pink with a Nicki Minaj residency, leaving no strip uncovered. Known for her extravagant and visually appeasing stage production, Ceasar's would be the perfect spot for her Roman alter ego to reign as the first lady MC to host in LV. Maybe she'd even bring a few YMCMB comrades guest along for the ride.

Artist: Lana Del Rey
Show: Paradise Wishes
Venue: Cosmopolitan
With a vintage sound and looming vocal arrangement, Lana Del Rey can bring a 1940’s feel to Vegas with staple showgirls, women in mink scarves and long silk gowns, clinking champagne flutes and thick cigar smoke. A blast from the past, Lana’s sound can serve as the soundtrack to either your Bonnie & Clyde date night or jovial moves to the craps table.

Artist: Frank Ocean
Show: R&Breaux
Venue: Venetian
Before he ships out to Tokyo, a solemn yet forceful performance night after night with Ocean will be the best sendoff fans could enjoy. The “Pilot Jones” singer can take everyone for a flight before trekking to the Far East.
