7 Best Red Carpet Grammy Arrivals

7 Best Red Carpet Grammy Arrivals

Sowmya Krishnamurthy Posted February 9, 2013
The Grammy Awards kicks off this Sunday in Los Angeles. In honor of the biggest night in music, we remember some of the greatest red carpet moments from shows past, from jaw-dropping outfits to even more shocking flashes of skin. We can only hope this year’s nominees try to top these memorable appearances.
Jennifer Lopez and THE DRESS

We don’t remember much from the 2000 Grammy Awards but one thing everyone does remember is what Jennifer Lopez wore (or lack thereof). J. Lo shocked the world with the green napkin dress from Versace which showed off all her famous curves. This year the Grammys have issued wardrobe guidelines and we can only thank Jenny From The Block for the strict rules.
Soccer Mom

A very pregnant M.I.A. left very little to the imagination in 2009 when she channeled her inner soccer mom in a see-thru dress. Complete with sneakers and sunglasses, M.I.A.’s fashion choice deserved a red card.

Dressed in the Dark

Foxy Brown may have very well dressed herself in the dark with this 2003 abomination. Individually, some of the pieces and accessories could work. Together? Fox Boogie was a walking fashion disaster. A bra with a fur is better left on Hype Williams’ music video set.
Nicki Minaj and her Strange Date

Very religious or sacrilegious? Nicki Minaj kicked up the controversy when she showed up with her new man (of the cloth) last year on the red carpet. Nicki rocked her own slutty version of Little Red Riding Hood, which made her standing next to a fake Pope even weirder. Where does she think of these things?
Cut Something

We could have let Missy Elliott’s head-to-toe purple suit slide in 2000, but that was before the talented artist/producer decided to roll around in razors. Unless Gillette sponsored this horrible outfit, it was supa dupa (not) fly.
Toni Braxton and HER DRESS

Was Toni trying to top J. Lo’s green Versace number with her dress in 2001? It sure looked like it. How the pint-sized singer kept together the dental floss gown without a major wardrobe malfunction is anyone’s guess.
Gaga Hatches

Lady Gaga skipped the red carpet altogether in 2011 when she arrived in a giant egg, being held up by male servants. That’s one way to skip awkward press interviews, Gaga.
