When we first heard that Azealia Banks was released from Interscope Records earlier this month, two words came to mind: Game over. After all, Azealia spent more than two years signed to the label and, in the process, failed to drop her debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste.
While she did unleash a handful of singles, including "Yung Rapunxel" and "ATM Jam," her music career hasn't exactly flourished. She made us eat our words over the weekend, though, when she dropped her new song, "Heavy Metal and Reflective."
The track is full of energy and sounds like the Azealia Banks we all fell in love with in 2012, not the one better known for her Twitter beefs than music. Maybe leaving Interscope will be a good thing for her career. Here are 7 reasons why Azealia Banks might still prosper.
