An impressive attendance of A-list celebrities and powerhouse executives all came together last night (Feb. 3) for the African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA). The AAFCA held their 5th Annual Awards in Los Angeles, and brought out Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker, TV mogul Shonda Rhimes, Fox Searchlight executive Zola Mashariki, and top entertainment attorney Nina Shaw, among other top industry heads who were in attendance.

The classy event was hosted by actors Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow) and actress Salli Richardson-Whitfield. In addition to presenting awards to 12 winners, the awards also highlighted the power moves that were made by the industry towards diversity and perseverance. Awards were given out to Boone Issacs, Barclay, Bob and Harvey Weinstein and journalist Justin Chang. Zola Mashariki was presented the Ashley Boone Award — named after one of the first African American studio executives — by film director Robert Townsend and college friend Shonda Rhimes.
