Bad Romance: 13 Toxic Celebrity Relationships

Bad Romance: 13 Toxic Celebrity Relationships

Megan Guard Posted January 31, 2013
After Rihanna made her and Chris Brown's relationship everyone's business on Instagram, wax and an interview with Rolling Stone, the bad gal's notions of love called to mind other stars who were dangerously in love. Run the tape back on these 13 toxic celebrity relationships.

Rihanna and Chris Brown

Chrianna has been the most dysfunctional relationship to date after Rih was brutally beaten by Breezy in 2008. Despite their topsy turvy love story (and third party Karrueche unfortunately in the fold), the two remain unapologetic for their devotion to one another.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag

This reality TV couple knew how to garner the public's attention by doing pretty much... nothing. Pratt and Montag, otherwise known as Speidi, made their way onto the scene after starring on MTV's reality television show "The Hills" in 2006. Revealing their relationship was built solely off gimmick as the couple released their book How To Be Famous causing yet again another eye role. Now, the married couple are still going strong but in their hey day, Pratt groomed Montag into a co-dependent walking ad for plastic surgery.
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline

This relationship took a turn for the worse as we watched the Princess of Pop and then back-up dancer K-fed danced their way into our homes with their reality show "Britney and Kevin: Chaotic" in 2005. Reportedly one of the trashiest show on television, the couple still took their reality money and married, even producing two children. The relationship quickly disintegrated shortly after Britney faced an ugly custody battle of her children against the "Popozao" MC.
Eminem and Kim Mathers

Marshall Mathers and high school sweetheart Kim Mathers faced a long and grueling child custody dispute over daughter Hailie Scott and two divorces. The rapper known as Eminem took to several tracks like "Kim," "Mockingbird" and "Just The Two Of Us," spitting insults (and even murder threats) at his ex-wife.
Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love

Long after Kurt Cobain's alleged suicide, this rock star twosome still remain one of the most misguided relationships in rock history. The couple once revealed that many people, including former Nirvana member Dave Grohl, opposed their marriage, which was rife with drug abuse. Fans even accused the former leading lady of "Hole" as Cobain's murderer.
Sammi Sweetheart and Ronnie

90% of America watched as the two reality show stars Ronnie and Sam developed what would be one of the rockiest relationships in MTV history. The couple just couldn't seem to get it right on the boardwalks of Jersey Shore as they fought, screamed, and cried their way through every episode over trust issues and anger problems.
Amy Winehouse and Blake Fielder-Civil

"I told you I was trouble/ you know that I'm no good," sings late great Amy Winehouse, who battled with substance abuse. Ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil reportedly introduced her to hard drugs, but was relieved when nothing turned up in the singer's toxicology report. "It meant I didn't kill my ex-wife," Fielder-Civil told The Sun.
Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra

In one of the most bizarre match-ups of celeb couples, the former Chicago Bull and the sexy vixen allegedly got hitched while Rodman was heavily intoxicated. Unsurprisingly, he filed an annulment nine days later.
Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren

It was apparent that champion golfer and his ex-wife were leading seperate lives after a string of women claimed to have had affairs with the champion golfer. Shortly after the couple split in 2010 though recent reports say Woods asked her to re-marry him. Meanwhile, she's dated billionaire Jamie Dingman and reportedly NHL player Douglas Murray while constructing her Palm Beach mansion with that post-divorce settlement money.
Ike and Tina Turner

The couple that was Ike and Tina is not only recognized by their contribution to R&B but the husband-and-wife musical duo also experienced a turbulent marriage reportedly marked by spousal abuse and Ike's cocaine addiction. Tina even attempted suicide in 1968. Ten years later, the couple finally divorced as the powerhouse diva made a successful comeback in the '80s. Ike passed away at 76 in 2007.
Robin Givens and Mike Tyson

No one could knock down the love between Givens and Tyson till domestic abuse tainted the year-long marriage. Tyson wed Givens in 1988 only for her to file for divorce three months later, alleging spousal abuse, and receive a reported $10 million settlement. The two were also involved in a love triangle with a then-no-name Brad Pitt.
Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston

Ask Whitney's momma Cissy Houston and even she had to admit in her new book "Remembering Whitney" that things may have been different if Bobby never met Whitney. The late songbird married the New Edition singer, who she says was jealous of her success and influenced her heavy drug abuse. Whitney was found dead in a hotel bathtub in Beverly Hills, Calif., at age 48, reportedly caused by cocaine use and heart disease.
Tommy Lee and Pamela Anders

This famous rock couple married after 96 hours in what could be considered one of the most sporadic on-and-off relationships for the next decade. This eccentric pair--most remembered for their sex tape--called it quits in 1998, only to rekindle the flames the follow year. They then split again in 2001.
