Bar Code: The 16 Illest Motherf**king Lines From 'Watch The Throne'

Bar Code: The 16 Illest Motherf**king Lines From 'Watch The Throne'

Posted August 11, 2011

THE SONG: "No Church in the Wild," featuring Frank Ocean

THE NOMINEES:

1. Jay-Z: "Cocaine seats, all white like I got the whole thing bleached/Drug dealer chic, I'm wonderin' if a thug's prayers reach"

2. Kanye: "Thinkin' 'bout the girl in the all-leopard/Who was rubbin' the wood like Kiki Sheperd"

3. Jay-Z: "I'm out here ballin', I know y'all hear my sneaks/Jesus was a carpenter, Yeezy laid beats/Hova flow the Holy Ghost, get the hell up out your seats"

4. Kanye: "When we die, the money we can't keep/But we probably spend it all 'cause the pain ain't cheap"

WINNER → #1

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Let the slick talk start early! Jay describes his all-white-everything ride to perfection and just narrowly edges out 'Ye's hilarious Kiki Sheperd punchline. Good start, fellas.

THE SONG: "Lift Off," featuring Beyonce

THE NOMINEES:

1. Kanye: "Lift off, takin' my coat off/Showin' my tattoos, I'm such a showoff"

2. Jay-Z: "Rappers hear Watch The Throne, they gon' be pissed off/Earth is boring to 'em, shit is making my dick soft"

3. Kanye: "I'm supercharged/I'm 'bout to take this whole thing to Mars"

4. Jay-Z: "When you Earnhardt as me, eventually you hit a big wall/5, 4, 3, 2, we need fuel"

WINNER → #4

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Admittedly, there isn't much in terms of "hot" lyrics on this track. In fact, Jay barely contributes to it. But when he does, he leaves us with the second hottest Dale Earnhardt rap reference of all-time. Word to Cam'Ron's "Halftime."

THE SONG: "Ni**as In Paris"

THE NOMINEES:

1. Jay-Z: "So, I ball so hard, motherfuckers wanna fine me, but first niggas gotta find me/What's 50 grand to a motherfucker like me?/Can you please remind me?"

2. Kanye: "Fuck ol' girl, she don't wanna dance/Excuse my French but I'm in France"

3. Jay-Z: "Ball so hard, I'm shocked, too/I'm supposed to be locked up, too/If you escaped what I've escaped, you'd be in Paris getting fucked up, too"

4. Kanye: "Prince William ain't do it right, if you ask me/'Cause if I was him, I would have married Kate and Ashley"

WINNER → #4

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: All four of these lines would probably make a list of the top 16 lines on the album as a whole. But because we can only pick one, we'll go with 'Ye's silly reference to Prince William and the royal wedding. We can't help but wonder whether or not a guy who's set up to take over a real throne will find this as funny as we did.

THE SONG: "Otis," featuring Otis Redding

THE NOMINEES:

1. Jay-Z: "I invented swag/Poppin' bottles, puttin' supermodels in the cab"

2. Kanye: "Niggas talkin real reckless, stuntmen/I adopted these niggas, Phillip Drummond 'em/Now I'm 'bout to make them tuck they whole summer in"

3. Jay-Z: "Photo shoot fresh, looking like wealth/I'm 'bout to call the paparazzi on myself"

4. Kanye: "I made 'Jesus Walks,' I'm never going to hell/Couture level flow, it's never going on sale"

WINNER → #2

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Don't lie: You know you've read at least 5,476 "I'm about to make ______ tuck his whole summer in" tweets since this song dropped in July. So, how could it not be called the hottest line on this song?

THE SONG: "Gotta Have It"

THE NOMINEES:

1. Kanye: "LOLOLOL to white America, assassinate my character/Money matrimony, yeah, they tryin' to break the marriage up"

2. Kanye: "Sorry I'm in my pajamas, but I just got off the PJ/And last party we had, they shut down Prive"

3. Jay-Z: "I wish I could give you this feelin', I'm plankin' on a million"

4. Jay-Z: "Wassup, motherfucker, where my money at?/You gon' make me come down to your house where yo' mummy at/Mummy wrap the kids, have 'em cryin' for they mummy back"

WINNER → #3

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: We get the feeling this line won't age particularly well (hope you're ready to explaining the "planking" phenomena to your kids in 10 years!), but it is pretty amazing to know that Hov knows what planking is. Props to Yeezy, though, for making the verbal LOL somewhat acceptable for a half a second.

THE SONG: "New Day"

THE NOMINEES:

1. Kanye: "I'll never let my son have an ego/He'll be nice to everyone, wherever we go"

2. Jay-Z: "Sorry, junior, I already ruined ya/'Cause you ain't even alive, paparazzi pursuing ya"

3. Kanye: "See, I just want him to have an easy life, not like Yeezy life/Just him to be someone people like"

4. Jay-Z: "Promise to never leave him, even if his mama tweakin'/'Cause my dad left me and I promise never repeat him"

WINNER → #1

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Does anyone really think Kanye's future son is going to be humble? Like, how is that even remotely possible? We're surprised 'Ye hasn't already started planning the Super Sweet 16 party. But, it's wishful thinking, right? And it definitely made us sit up and pay attention when he started off his verse by saying it.

THE SONG: "That's My Bitch"

THE NOMINEES:

1. Kanye: "I paid for them titties, get your own/It ain't safe in the city, watch the throne"

2. Jay-Z: "Go harder than a nigga for a nigga, go figure/Told me keep my own money if we ever did split up"

3. Kanye: "You say I care more about them Basquions, Basquiats/She learned a new word, it's yacht"

4. Jay-Z: "I mean, Marilyn Monroe, she's quite nice/But why all the pretty icons always all white?"

WINNER → #4

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: We're sure Bill O'Reilly will use the title of this song against Jay and/or 'Ye one day. But if he actually listens to what these guys are saying (novel idea, right?) he'll probably be surprised. We sure were when we heard Jay using part of his verse to question society's portrayal of women.

THE SONG: "Welcome to the Jungle"

THE NOMINEES:

1. Jay-Z: "I'm a tortured soul, I live in disguise/Rest in peace to the leader of the Jackson 5"

2. Kanye: "Why I pray so hard, this is crazy God/Just when I thought I had everything, I lost it all"

3. Jay-Z: "My tears is tatted, my rag in my pocket/I'm just looking for love, I know somebody got it"

4. Jay-Z: "I'm losing myself, I'm stuck in the moment/I look in the mirror, my only opponent"

WINNER → #4

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Wow. In one of Jay's most introspective verse of all-time, he drops this bombshell. It's not the deepest thing we've ever heard, but it fits well within the context of his verse and is definitely going to show up on more than a few Facebook profiles this summer.

THE SONG: "Who Gon Stop Me"

THE NOMINEES:

1. Kanye: "Last night ain't go so well, got kicked up out the hotel/Got a little freaky like Marv Albert, yes, tell Howard Cosell"

2. Jay-Z: "Who gon' stop me, huh? Beat the odds, beat the feds/It wouldn't be wise to bet against the kid"

3. Jay-Z: "Lucky Lefty, I expect a 7/I went through hell, I expect heaven"

4. Kanye: "Y'all weed purple, my money purple/Y'all Steve Urkel, I'm Oprah circle/I wrote the verse, that I hope will hurt you"

WINNER → #3

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Talk about making power moves. Jay and 'Ye spend the majority of the album talking about how they can't be stopped, but they really go over the top on this track. And Jay is basically telling the world that he cannot lose with this line that reveals everything you need to know about his attitude towards success.

THE SONG: "Murder to Excellence"

THE NOMINEES:

1. Kanye: "And I'm from the murder capital, where they murder for capital/Heard about at least three killings this afternoon"

2. Jay-Z: "If you put crabs in a barrel to insure your survival/You gon' end up pulling down niggas that look just like you"

3. Kanye: "New crib, watch a movie, 'cause ain't nothin' on the news but the blues/Hit the mall, pick up some Gucci, now ain't nothin' new but your shoes"

4. Jay-Z: "Only spot a few blacks the higher I go/What's up to Will, shout out to O/That ain't enough, we gon' need a million more"

WINNER → #4

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Again, Jay-Z is seen taking a look at something other than just how much money he's got or how many paintings he has hanging up in his living room on this track. And this line is evidence of how far he's come not only as an artist, but also as a person.

THE SONG: "Made In America," featuring Frank Ocean

THE NOMINEES:

Kanye: "Niggas hustle everyday for a beat from 'Ye/What I do? Turn around, gave them beats to Jay/And I'm rapping on the beat they was supposed to buy/I guess I'm getting high off my own supply"

Jay-Z: "Our apple pie was supplied through Arm & Hammer/Straight out the kitchen, shhh, don't wake Nana!"

Kanye: "Downtown mixing fabrics trying to find the magic/Started a little blog just to get some traffic"

Jay-Z: "No papa, bad Santa/Ther streets raised me, pardon my bad manners"

WINNER → #1

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: This line from Kanye just screams, 'I made it!' And he continues from there to explain how far he's come since getting his start in the rap game.

THE SONG: "Why I Love You," featuring Mr. Hudson

THE NOMINEES:

1. Jay-Z: "When the grief is over the beef is over, I'll be fly when Easter's over/I tried to teach niggas how to be kings, and all they ever wanted to be was soldiers"

2. Jay-Z: "Fuck you squares, the circle got smaller/The castle got bigger, the walls got taller"

3. Jay-Z: "Charge it to the game, whatever's left on it/I spent about a minute, maybe less on it"

4. Jay-Z: "Bustin' at me, b-b-b-bustin' at me/But I'm bulletproof, bitch, you can't get nothin' past me"

WINNER → #2

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Without mentioning a single name, Jay addresses everyone that's ever taken a shot at him over the course of the last few years with this one line. And thankfully, Kanye backs off and lets him do his thing on this track.

THE SONG: "Illest Motherfucker Alive"

THE NOMINEES:

Kanye: "Damn, baby, pussy can't be your only hustle/Unless you as bad as Naomi Russell"

Jay-Z: "11 in a row, Bill Russell rings, Michael Jordan swag/Y'all think Michael Jordan bad/Nigga, I got five more rings than Michael Jordan had"

Kanye: "Bulletproof condom when I'm in these hoes/Got staples on my dick, fuckin' centerfolds"

Jay-Z: "Fuck Sosa, this Hova, this is real life/This is what the ending of Scarface should feel like"

WINNER → #2

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Do we really even need to explain this one? Lest you forget all that Jay has accomplished, he does it here by essentially saying that he's better than Michael Jordan. It's such a crazy line, we half expect the ultra-competitive MJ to get into the booth tomorrow and issue a response. Of course, we hope he doesn't, but...

THE SONG: "H.A.M."

THE NOMINEES:

1. Kanye: "Just forget it, you talk it, I live it/Like Eli, I did it, jokes on you motherfucker and I get it"

2. Jay-Z: "I'm like really half a billi, really you got baby money/Keep it real with niggas, niggas ain't got my lady money"

3. Kanye: "And a nigga still young, wanna have no kids/But I've been practicing with some actresses that's bad as shit"

4. Jay-Z: "Bow down, brother pay homage/Don't spill hate all on my garments"

WINNER → #2

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Nothing new to see here. This was the line that started up all the "Is Jay going at Baby?" rumors and was one of the only memorable lines on the track from either artist.

THE SONG: "Primetime"

THE NOMINEES:

Jay-Z: "Mo' money, 40-year-old phenom, our 15 minutes of fame has stretched beyond/At 42, be better than 24, I carried the .45 mastered 48 laws"

Kanye: "Primetime, basking in the lime/Cassius in his prime, coloring outside the line/'Cause they don't want nobody that's colored out of the lines"

Jay-Z: "I hit the club, ordered some Grey Goose/Switched it up for Ciroc to give Puff's stock a boost"

Kanye: "Damn, Yeezy, they all gotta be dimes?/Well, Adam gave up a rib, so mine better be prime"

WINNER → #1

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: If you haven't heard it, Jay's entire first verse is worth a listen. He uses a series of numbers to break down his career. This is just the first line of many.

THE SONG: "The Joy," featuring Curtis Mayfield

THE NOMINEES:

1. Kanye: "You know the demo, your boy act wild/You ain't get the memo? Yeezy's back in style"

2. Jay-Z: "This is my momma shit/I used to hear this through the wall in the 'hood when I was back on my pajama shit"

3. Kanye: "This beat deserves Hennessey/A bad bitch and a bag of weed, the Holy Trinity"

4. Jay-Z: "They said, 'You raised that boy too fast, but you was raising a warrior'/We victorious, they'll never take the joy from us"

WINNER → #3

WHY THE WINNING LINE IS HOT: Though this song is more about Pete Rock's soulful beat and the Curtis Mayfield sample he uses than either Jay or 'Ye's lyrics, Kanye's vices get the best of him and make us want to imbibe a bit before we press rewind and start WTT from the top again. Let's take it from the top, shall we?
