1. Evelyn Lozada Is Still Telling Her Side Of The Story
Although it’s explained at the very beginning of this episode that the scene was filmed almost exactly a year ago, it’s actually perfect timing for Evelyn Lozada to be given another platform to explain her 41-day marriage to Chad Johnson and the violent act that ended it. Chad has recently insinuated that Evelyn is not being completely forthright about her behavior during the argument that resulted in her being on the receiving end of a headbutt – something her detractors, who have tried to scapegoat Chad’s violent act by signaling her own behavior on Basketball Wives, have been clamoring to hear.
Evelyn began her explanation by revisiting the source of the confrontation – discovering that Chad had purchased condoms only three weeks after they got married – and preceded to reveal how just how bad her world came undone. Indeed, two days after the incident, her brother-in-law, who walked her down the aisle, died. Evelyn says that her brother-in-law told Chad, “You need to take care of her.” She went on to accuse him of doing the “total opposite” while noting, “I feel like everyone blamed me for ruining his life.”
As despicable as the victim blaming has been, I do take issue with Evelyn making it seem as if the media is at fault for the public’s perception of her. True enough many assume that all she does is fight, but “the media” isn’t to blame for her numerous displays of rage. She is. That has nothing to do with Chad being wrong for attacking her, but you can’t clear your name by playing coy about what you’ve done. Didn’t Iyanla tell her this already?
In any event, after Evelyn filmed her national TV interviews about the incident, she visited her mother, whom Evelyn suspected desired for the two to get back together. Unfortunately, she wouldn’t be the only one with such a silly idea.
