5. We Are Still Talking About Chad
In the closing moments of the episode, Evelyn met with another therapist. I’m all for her getting therapy, but didn’t Iyanla already fix her life? How many times are we going to revisit this conversation with a Black woman rocking a fade? Anyway, while dissecting the night in question, the therapist tells Evelyn, “As a therapist, I have a hard time accepting that you didn’t do anything?” So she questions Evelyn further, asking her what exactly did she say to set Chad off. Apparently it was the comment, “I will never have kids with you.”
You know, I don’t care for victim blaming particularly from a person who is supposed to provide a place of solace for a person in need. "You said something, he did something" is such a simplistic way to look at domestic violence. Worse was the quip about “no feminist” or “no womanist” involved. That therapist sounded like the kind of woman who doesn’t care that much for other women. Where is her license and who has a match?
