Movie: The Gangster Squad
Starring: Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Anthony Mackie, Emma Stone
Directed By: Ruben Fleischer
Release Date: January 11, 2013

Director Ruben Fleischer ("30 Minutes or Less") gathers an ensemble cast of superstar talent to tell the tale of the cops who brought down the ruthless gangster Mickey Cohen. The Brooklyn-born mob king played by Sean Penn is ruthless, unapologetic and has his gaze set on Los Angeles. With the gangster in place running the show, reaping the ill-gotten gains from evil seeds sewn, it's enough to intimidate even the bravest, street hardened cop.

Except "The Gangster Squad" aren't your every day, average set of flatfoots. The secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O'Mara (Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Gosling) come together to shoot up the town, intimidate the baddies and tear Cohen's world apart. For extra incentive to pitch why this movie is date-worthy material, Gosling and co-star Emma Stone set the screen on fire with their white hot chemistry.

You can see for yourself in the trailer below:

Movie: Zero Dark Thirty
Starring: Jessica Chastain, Joel Edgerton, Mark Strong
Directed By: Kathryn Bigelow
Release Date: January 11, 2013

The brilliant Kathryn Bigelow (the directorial mind behind "The Hurt Locker") steps into the trenches again. This time, she opts to tell the story of history's greatest manhunt for the world's most dangerous man — Osama bin Laden. Zero Dark Thirty chronicles the decade-long search for the terrorist responsible for destroying the World Trade Center through the eyes of an elite team of intelligence and military operatives, both shrouded in secret across the globe.

You already know how the story ends, so watch the trailer below to see how we got to the conclusion:

After traveling to Moscow to help his capricious son Jack, the elder McClane stumbles into a terrorist plot which threatens the safety of the entire world.

Movie: Oz: The Great And Powerful
Starring: James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz
Directed By: Sam Raimi
Release Date: March 8, 2013

Director Sam Raimi gathers an otherworldly cast to tell the story of the "all great and powerful Oz," in this prequel (of sorts) to the classic 1939 fantasy-adventure film. James Franco stars as small-time magician Oscar Diggs who pulls on flimflam too many, and mysteriously finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz, where he must transform himself into the Oz we all know him to become—or else.

Thinking that he's hit the jackpot, Oz comes across three witches who prove him otherwise, evil witches Theodora (Kunis) and Evanora (Weisz), and good witch Glinda (Williams). The trio of magical mamacitas are not convinced of his wizardry, but when an epic problem faces the Land of Oz, Oscar must step up to the challenge and stop calamity before it is too late.

You can watch the trailer for yourself below:

Movie: G.I. Joe: Retaliation
Starring: Channing Tatum, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Ray Park, Bruce Willis
Directed By: Jon Chu
Release Date: March 29, 2013

The first "G.I. Joe" movie sucked...in a big way, and thankfully director Jon Chu ("Justin Bieber: Never Say Never") has stepped in to rectify this issue. In G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the band of brothers have been framed by the evil Zartan (who is still impersonating the President of the United States) as traitors. With the newly released Cobra Commander and his group of baddies controlling the globe, armed with advanced warheads and ninjas, it's up to the Joes to come up with a plan to overthrow Cobra and save the world.

If you need anymore incentive to watch this flick, there's an epic ninja fight on the side of the mountain, which you can see in the trailer below:

Movie: 42
Starring: Chadwick Boseman, Nicole Beharie, Harrison Ford, Christopher Meloni
Directed By: Brian Helgeland
Release Date: April 12, 2013

Anticipation for this biopic about the legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson was so high that President Barack Obama even visited the set to match sure "everything was accurate". The story of Robinson, the Brooklyn Dodger who broke the Major League Baseball color line, goes deeper than just race and sports politics—it tells a story of a man who held strong to his convictions and the people who supported them.

42 stars Harrison Ford as the Dodger's innovative general manager Branch Rickey, the beautifully talented Nicole Beharie plays Jackie Robinson's love interest Rachel Isum, and newcomer Chadwick Boseman steps into the giant cleats of Jackie Robinson as the film's star.

With the president's approval, check out the trailer for the highly-anticipated '42' below:

Movie: Iron Man 3
Starring: Robert Downey, Jr., Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Gwyneth Paltrow
Directed By: Shane Black
Release Date: May 3, 2013

Marvel had an extremely wonderful (and profitable) 2012, and they're hoping to strike hot again with the third installment of the "Iron Man" franchise. The hugely popular series, which stars Robert Downey, Jr. as billionaire industrialist Tony Stark, will have a change of pace in Iron an 3. Stark's latest adventure finds his world reduced to rubble by his arch-nemesis The Mandarin (Kingsley) and must use every inch of his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. The brash-but-brilliant Iron Man faces odds like no other, but will his harrowing quest to find the parties responsible result in his undoing, or liberation?

Does the suit make the man, or does the man make the suit? Answer for yourself by watching the trailer below:

Movie: Star Trek Into Darkness
Starring: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana
Directed By: J.J. Abrams
Release Date: May 17, 2013

Director J.J. Abrams' reboot of the "Star Trek" film franchise was a home-run, giving Trekkies all around the globe another reason to gloat. In the highly-anticipated sequel, an unstoppable force of terror has attacked the S.S. Enterprise at its core, and Captain Kirk takes the crisis personally. Leading a manhunt to a war-zone world to settle the score and capture a one man weapon of mass destruction, our heroes are propelled into an epic game of space warfare that threatens everyone on-board. Friendships will be tested, love will be challenged, and sacrifices will be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew-mates.

The only sacrifice you have to make is to press play to watch the trailer below:

Movie: Man of Steel
Starring: Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon
Directed By: Zack Snyder
Release Date: June 14, 2013

After the abortion known as "Superman Returns" managed to stink up the box office, DC Comics decided to put the Big Blue Boy Scout on the shelf. And while Batman and "The Dark Knight" franchise kept them all afloat, cinephiles everywhere wondered out loud, "Where is the Man of Steel?" Thanks to director Zack Snyder (and producer Christopher Nolan), your wishes have been granted as the Kryptonian crusader makes his return in this much anticipated summer blockbuster.

Our users had a different choice for the second most anticipated film of the year, though.

The reboot finds audiences seeing the young superhero-in-training as he lands in rural Kansas. Adopted by a couple of kindhearted parents, the child born as Kal-El grows up as Clark Kent, and secretly keeps his extraordinary powers on the hush. But when a threat arises that could very well affect all of mankind, it's up to Superman to protect his new home from such insidious evil.

The trailer has been viewed over 25 million times, so why not check it out one more time below:

Movie: Pacific Rim
Starring: Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Max Martini
Directed By: Guillermo Del Toro
Release Date: July 12, 2013

Guillermo Del Toro's latest creature feature has been on many cinephiles radars for over a year now. In "Pacific Rim," legions of monstrous creatures known as Kaiju begin to assault humanity after rising from the sea. A war is waged between man and sea creature, which is quickly won by the Godzilla-esque monsters. To combat the giant Kaiju from completely overtaking humanity's resources, massive robots called Jaegers are brought into the battle.

With hope swinging in the balance, mankind has no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes — a washed up former pilot (played by Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi).

Will these two, aided by Idris Elba, be enough to fight off such gigantic odds? You can check out the trailer below:

Movie: Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
Starring: Mickey Rourke, Michael Madsen, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Josh Brolin
Directed By: Robert Rodriguez & Frank Miller
Release Date: October 4, 2013

Robert Rodriguez and his Troublemaker Studios are back again with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. In this sequel to the stylistic graphic novel by Frank Miller ("The Dark Knight Returns"), Dwight (Josh Brolin) is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord. As he watches his life go straight into the toilet, the story is a prequel of sorts to "The Big Fat Kill" (featured in the "Sin City") and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.

Not much has been released in the way of a trailer, or even film stills, but you can watch this fan-made clip below:

Movie: Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
Starring: Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate
Directed By: Adam McKay
Release Date: December 20, 2013

Little is known about Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, but you can bet you sweet Mantooth that this has must-see written all over it. The upcoming comedy film is slated for release this holiday season, and is just the Christmas gift needed. When the project was confirmed by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, the former released a teaser trailer to help spark more interest in the project. McKay, who will be directing the comedy, stated that the story might include a custody battle and bowling.
