When I first entered the large space in DUMBO, Brooklyn, it was not such a huge crowd. The horrible heat with a backdrop of overcast would make it seem like the crowd would stay small through out the event. The DJ was spinning some music as people used pre-performance time to get a feel for the event, including myself. It was fitting that the first act I saw was, well, the first act I saw. The audience was not feeling the self-proclaimed MC at all. Nor were they feeling the person he brought with him on stage, to whom the crowd had little to no reaction when he asked if the audience was ready to “turn up.” Their presence at the festival was confusing, proving to be filler prior to the headliners. Later in the line up was Dizzy Wright, one of the members of this year’s XXL Freshman Class. Rocking faded, light-blue jean shorts and a white tee with a large image of who seemed to be 2pac and Biggie, he was well-received by the crowd, especially with trap-esque beats on his side.
