Celebrity Tributes To Sandy Hook Elementary School

Celebrity Tributes To Sandy Hook Elementary School

Iyana Robertson Posted December 18, 2012
Newtown, CT and every parent in the world are still reeling over the heinous mass shooting that occurred last Friday (Dec. 14). Adam Lanza, 20, shot and killed 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Of the victims, 20 were first grade students, while the others were dedicated school faculty. Lanza also murdered his mother Nancy before arriving at the school.

Over the weekend, several tributes were made to those lost in the tragedy. From musicians to television stars to our Commander-in-Chief, condolences have been extended to families of the victims all weekend. Check out a few of those whose thoughts were with Newtown.
1. SNL Tribute
Refraining from the show's usual outlandish antics, Saturday Night Live paid their respects to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting with an a capella rendition of "Silent Night" by the New York City Children's Chorus. After softly singing "sleep in heavenly peace," the chorus kept with the SNL tradition and gleefully yelled, "Live from New York, it's 'Saturday Night!'"

2. Mike Posner
Like many other entertainers, Posner took to Twitter to express his condolences for the Sandy Hook victims. "Hey guys ... I wanted to do SOMETHING for the victims' families and I didn't really know what else to do," he tweeted. The singer/songwriter paid tribute with an original song called "Heaven," including a handwritten message that read "To the victims families: I hope this song will help just a tiny tiny bit to ease the pain of your loss." He ended his message with the song's chorus, "Maybe this will make sense in heaven.
