Crappy Weather Playlist: 10 Tracks to Survive a Blizzard

Crappy Weather Playlist: 10 Tracks to Survive a Blizzard

VIBE Posted February 8, 2013
Stuck inside and gettin’ stir crazy? VIBE’s got your back. Hit up that one crazy homie of yours (we all have one) that’s always down to brave a storm, and throw a house party in your living room.

Don’t let the blizzard get you down when you can brighten the day with our custom Crappy Weather playlist. →

Compiled by harbingers of happy dance, Bianca Mukhi and Sarah Polonsky
Madeaux – “Midnight Sun” (feat. Beca)
Maybe you have a lovah, close bud or just yourself (the coolest person you know, anyway) to chill indoors with today. With a warm drink in hand and loads of junk food, here’s a lounge-style tune with mellow vocals to keep cozy with.

Tiësto – Hide and Seek (Searching for Sunrise Mix)
The master’s take on Imogen Heap’s heartfelt “Hide and Seek”. It seems like the song is never going to get old. Better yet, it will keep us from rotting away while we stay home all weekend.

Jamiroquai – “Blue Skies” (Flux Pavilion Remix)
Jamiroquai has been off our rotation for a minute, but dubstep heavyweight Flux Pavilion has stepped in with a reminder and churned this funky choon right up! What better to listen to during a blizzard than a song with just as much energy as the hail beating at your window?

Cassius – “Sun Goes Down” Remix
A bouncy club jam to get you in the mood for the wonderland of last minute plans that your friends will probably bombard you with as they stock up on food (and definitely drink) for the long night ahead.

Two Door Cinema Club - “Sun” (Alex Metric Remix)
If you haven’t yet heard of Alex Metric, now is the time. What ever it is that you are getting up to today, this uplifting and optimistic remix will pull you out of your snowy blues and make you shine despite the absence of the sun.

Bob Marley – “Sun is Shining” (House Remix)
The dance-adelic bassline on this track reminds us of those old Fatboy Slim digs. If you’re at home today, let the original Wailer keep you company while you clean, cook, or chill out in true Marley style.

Michael Mind - "Ride Like the Wind" (Klaas Remix)
This 2008 release has not yet been outgrown, and hopefully neither have your party plans for tonight. If you’re going out on the town this evening despite the weather then this catchy electro remix will make a great addition to your pre-party playlist.

Candyland – “Bring the Rain”
Candyland is the latest Spinnin’ Records’ up-n-comer. With vocals that border on emo and beats that teeter the edges of electro and pop, this funky tune will take you out of your indoor funk.

Adele – “Set Fire to the Rain” (Thomas Gold Remix)
When Adele first set fire to the rain we sweated her for it. But when Thomas Gold got his hands on the track, he blazed that sh*t into an epic belt-heavy tune so hot, flames ignited from our speakers and they blew up. It can sleet for a week as long as this track is in the rotation.

Flume - “Tropical Sun”
With just one album under his belt, Australian producer Flume's sound is sophisticated and savory. The dreamy melodies and soulful vocals make for an oasis of music. Let the sun shine through your speakers with these chill chops .
