Yes, Big Boi’s second solo outing falls short of reaching the soaring bar of his previous acclaimed effort. But Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors deserves a lot of spins, delivering an even more eclectic musical palette than its predecessor, Sir Lucious Left Foot. The Kid Cudi-assisted “She Hate Me” captures the realities of a coping with a broken love affair with heartfelt simplicity while Big Boi re-teams with estranged protégé Killer Mike and alternative elctro-funk-rock duo Little Dragon on the dusted “Thom Pettie.” Not bad.
