Did You Forget About These Jay-Z Verses Already?
We love Jay-Z. Arguably the greatest rapper alive, his talent is undeniable but even the greatest fall short sometimes. Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z’s recent “Suit & Tie” wasn’t the first time that Jigga dropped a verse that received a mixed response.

Robin Thicke feat. Jay-Z - “Meiple”
Jay-Z and the other blue-eyed soul singer, Robin Thicke, joined forces for 2009’s “Meiple.” The French-inspired cut featured this truly awful Jay-Z line: “Pardon me, oui, in Paris/Champagne spilling out of my oui oui.” Champagne spilling out of Jay-Z’s what? T.M.I.
Usher feat. Jay-Z and Ester Dean - “Hot Tottie”
Naming a song after an alcoholic beverage no one drinks was bad enough but then Jay spouted these lyrics to entice the ladies: “We did it Indian style had the girls speaking in tongues/She like ‘Young, you hung.’” Yeah, we’re pretty sure Beyonce does not say that.
Jay-Z feat. Usher and Pharrell - “Anything”
Jay-Z’s first “Anything” featured a sample from the musical Oliver! but instead of leaving it there, he did another song called “Anything” on 2006’s disappointing Kingdom Come. Despite heavyhitter guest appearances from Usher and Pharrell, the song shouting out low class strip clubs just felt out of place and outdated from Hov.
Young Jeezy feat. Jay-Z and Andre 3000 - “I Do”
Too much of a good thing doesn’t always work out. The Snowman, Jigga and 3 Stacks should have been a monster cut but “I Do” turned out to be a “meh” track in which Andre stole the show. In retrospect, the song could have been way bigger than it was.
Shaq feat. Jay-Z and Lord Tariq - “No Love Lost”
This fail is mostly guilt by association. You probably don’t remember when basketball star Shaq rapped but in 1996, it happened. Shaq probably cut Jay a nice check for the anti-hater song “No Love Lost” … but no amount of money excuses Shaq for rapping “I'm not just taco, I'm the whole enchilado.” Friends don’t let friends rap bad.
