Nearly every year a 12 seed beats a five. In fact, since the tournament expanded to 64 teams a 12 has defeated a five nearly 35% of the time. So why wouldn’t an Ivy League school be the one to uphold tradition? The outcome of this game wasn’t really an upset. Even though Cincinnati was the favorite, The Crimson have been balling all season. They finished right outside of the Top 25 in the final polls (37th) and people who really follow the game knew that.
