Tiger’s Woods has always been the center of controversy. When he first turned pro in 1996, Golf’s very elitist, and often racially misguided, community wasn’t always accepting of the very young and very black athlete dominating the Pro Golf Association. However, Tiger’s very identity itself has been at the center of mixed feelings from the Black community, who questions whether he embraces his African-American side enough.
Woods’ toughest blow came in 2010, when new of his wild nights of infidelity while married became public. Since dealing with the divorce, Woods has only won one PGA Golfer of the year once (2013) and hans’t won much else, on the field. Winning often quiets critics, but Tiger has yet to master the art of the comeback.
