VIBE: You’re here doing an event for New Era, is this a sign that you’re in alignment with the brand?
Chad Johnson: Once things get back on track and I’m rolling, then we’ll start talking about partnerships. For right now, for the Super Bowl, it’s pretty cool.
It would make sense though, right? You’re kind of a rule breaker, a trendsetter. You were the first athlete to help Fatheads blow up.
(Nods in agreement) Yeah. Yeah.
So are there any new projects that we should look for?
Not right now. Not that I would know of to be able to say, ‘hey, this is what I’m doing.’ Right now I’m just at CBS working and enjoying being an analyst. Just enjoying life.
I’m not exactly sure when it happened, but you’ve become one of social media’s biggest influencers. How’d you become a social media guru?
[It’s because] I have no filter. I have no filter. Everyone else is boxed in and can only say and tweet certain things because they’re representing their employer. So therefore, you really can’t be yourself. One thing I’ve always done is, I’ve always been myself since day one. So whoever is dealing with me or whoever I’m employed by understands that this is the way Chad has always been. To get your best out of him, just let him be. That’s what makes my feed interesting and what makes me interesting in general. I don’t have to bite my tongue and I say what’s on my mind.
