How’d it come about that you were selected to debut the Kobe 9’s? Did he ask you or Nike?
At first, I didn’t think I’d do them justice. It was an honor. Nike called me and said Kobe had a surprise for me. Then he told me he wanted me to wear them. But Kobe owes me some money because those Kobe’s sold out everywhere when Swaggy put his feet in them, so I need my percentage. (Laughs) I’lll just take five percent.
You take your kick game serious. I think the rest of the league started to recognize your “swag” from your kicks on the court. Give me your top five in rotation on the court and off the court.
On the court, I’m wearing a lot of Kobe’s, Penny’s, Foams, Jordans and (pauses in thought) I have to find some old Dennis Rodman Nike’s. I try to go all the way back to where people forget.
Off the court, I try to rock everything: Nikes, Vans, Converse, [Yves] Saint Laurent’s. I don’t rock adidas though. Never really been an adidas guy. I gotta get my hands on those Red Yeezy II’s before he does his thing with adidas.
What’d you think the way Nike dropped them?
They just did some Beyonce thing. Dropped them and no one knew. I told Nike I need a little gift.
So when you do get them are you going to play in them or keep them on ice? Obviously it’s not about money for you, but they’re selling for about $5,000 right now.
Yeah, you’ll get five for them easy. You gotta have a nice [out]fit for them cuz they’re not coming out no more. I got a couple Kanye Louis that I haven’t worn yet. I’ll have to put them Yeezy II’s on ice, too.
