This is your second time visiting MSG. The first time you said you were kind of awe struck. Did you feel the same way tonight?
It’s still the same feeling. You’re going through warmups and you see the crowds already here, you see the celebrities in the building, the lights are bright, so it’s always fun coming here.
The Trail Blazers have gone from a team that couldn’t make the playoffs last season, to one of the best in the league. LaMarcus Aldridge is having a better year and you’re an All Star this season too, but how much of that turnaround can you attribute to players getting better or the team dynamic improving (in terms of growth)?
I think it’s more growth than anything else. LA (LaMarcus Aldridge) was an All Star last season and I’ve been lucky enough to make it because of our team success, but I think we’ve gotten better as a team. The chemistry is better, guys are trying to figure out whatever they can do for us to win the game. Like tonight, the Knicks kept double-teaming LA and he kept passing it out until eventually the ball found the open man for shots. We hit some big threes off of that.
Guys trust each other (on this team). The chemistry is the biggest difference.
I see so many similarities between you and Bulls guard Derrick Rose. You both have the cool, calm demeanor off the court and then the explosive ability on it. With him out (for the season) do you think there’s room for you to become a signature guy with adidas?
I think there is because of my teams success. When you’re winning, that opens up doors for you because everybody loves winners. Given my part in [our teams success] I think it’s definitely possible.
