Kanye West's 5 Most Bizarre Concert Rants In Recent History

Kanye West's 5 Most Bizarre Concert Rants In Recent History

Chris Yuscavage Posted February 26, 2013
Kanye West isn't doing any interviews these days. But, that doesn't mean that he's not making headlines for saying some wild stuff. He's just doing it in his own special way.

During a concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London recently, 'Ye went on one of his trademark "rants" right in the middle of his show and started going off about everything from corporate sponsors who put their logos up at concerts to the Grammy Awards organizers who shut him out of all the big categories this year. But, he really hit his stride about six minutes into his rant when he took a shot at Justin Timberlake's new hit single, "Suit & Tie."

"Remind me again why we in this shit," he said. "Remind me again why the Grammys could suck my dick. Remind me again who's the original Super Fly. And, I got nothing but love for Hov, but I ain't fucking with that 'Suit & Tie'…"

And, off he went. These kinds of rants have become something of a staple at a lot of Kanye's recent shows. It's clear that he has a lot of things on his mind and nowhere else to express them, so he uses his live shows both to perform and to get stuff off his chest. With that in mind, we decided to put together a list of Kanye West's 5 Most Bizarre Concert Rants In Recent History. If you miss reading Kanye West's interviews in magazines, just listen to a few of these rants. We're sure that you'll get your fill of Kanye West quotables.
The Venue: Revel Ovation Hall in Atlantic City
The Date: December 2012
The Rant: Kanye West was upset about a lot of things on this particular night. He wasn't happy with all the critics who fired shots at him for wearing a "dress" during the 12/12/12 Hurricane Sandy benefit concert. He wasn't happy with all the people who criticized his clothing line last year. And, he wasn't happy with all the blogs that mocked him for wearing a mask during his shows. So, he went on and on and on about it...
The Venue: Big Chill 2011 in England
The Date: August 2011
The Rant: Do you remember back in November 2006 when Kanye West got pissed off at the MTV Europe Music Awards after he didn't win the "Best Video" award and crashed the stage? Neither does he, which is why he went on this rant about it during a show five years later. FIVE YEARS LATER! We get that 'Ye doesn't like losing, but this seemed like an odd time to bring it up. Oh, and he also compared himself to Adolf Hitler later in the rant, which obviously didn't sit well with a lot of people. Crazy.
The Venue: Bowery Ballroom in New York City
The Date: November 2010
The Rant: After performing "The Good Life" during a "secret show" in NYC, Kanye West went on a long-winded rant about the way he was portrayed in the media in the aftermath of the Taylor Swift incident at the 2009 Video Music Awards. He also went off about the way the media tried to portray him after he made his "George Bush doesn't care about black people" comment shortly after Hurricane Katrina.
The Venue: Revel Ovation Hall in Atlantic City
The Date: July 2012
The Rant: While trying to explain why he doesn't sit for interviews with magazines anymore, Kanye West took some time to blast MediaTakeOut specifically for running scandalous stories on him and other celebrities. "Just look at MediaTakeOut," he said, "they so f------ full of s---! Show your m-----------' face so I could smack the s--- out of you!" He also went on to admit that he's flawed as a person but that "my music is perfect!"
The Venue: Le Zenith in Paris
The Date: February 2013
The Rant: The London rant isn't the only quality rant that Kanye's given us in the last week. He also went on one just days later in Paris where he compared himself to Picasso, Michelangelo, Basquiat, and Steve Jobs and revealed that he has new music coming "in about a couple months." But, you can be sure that he'll have a few more rants before then. Stay tuned!
